America’s Blue Jeans
In this project, I choose the color blue to use in the creation of images that explore narrative in photography. My color took center stage in the construction and exploration of a linear narrative. In my project, I really wanted to look at how blue symbolizes truth. Blue Jeans are a staple piece in many people’s wardrobes and have shifted to become a symbol of American identity. A large part of that identity throughout history relates back to the rural American farmer, and the role that he played. This is part of the truth that I wanted to show in my images. While exploring the use of the dominant color and monochromatic color concepts, one of the truths that I carry out through the images is this idea of time passing. With the bright clear sky at the beginning and the darker cloudy sky at the end, it reiterates this inevitable truth of the passing of time.
